The MBA Diversity Clerkship & Summer Associate Position provides a qualified law student from disadvantaged or historically marginalized backgrounds with the unique and prestigious opportunity of a funded summer clerkship and summer associate position in a firm. The selected individual spends approximately six weeks working with a firm, and the subsequent five weeks working with a judge.
This program is designed to offer opportunities to all students of potential, regardless of race or ethnicity, who may be overlooked by other programs due to a lack of experience or lower than desired academic outcomes as a result of being a first-generation college and/or law student, and not being able to participate in law school extra-curricular activities because of the need to work.
Selection Process The selection committee is comprised of representatives from the MBA, MBA Foundation, the EDWBA, the court, and a representative from the partnering firm. The committee will announce the selection in late April. The selected recipient will receive a stipend of $8,000 for the clerkship from the Milwaukee Bar Association Foundation. Payment for time spent within a partner firm will be paid to the individual directly by the firm.
