Prior to January of 2018, only two states had statutes allowing for Remote Online Notary Transactions. In the 18 months since, 16 states have passed statutes and another 10 have statutes pending. Wisconsin is one of those. The Wisconsin Land Title Association led the charge in drafting the statute, which had its first hearing in front of a Senate Committee on Oct. 16. This seminar will cover the national landscape of Remote Online Notary, the specifics of the Wisconsin bill and the ramifications on Wisconsin real estate practice. Brad Hoeschen is co-chair of the WLTA Legislative Committee, a member of the Board of Directors and Vice President and North Central Division Agency Manager for Old Republic National Title Insurance Co.
